Oberedge is in Peyton, Colorado. We make things we would put on our own table, and we sharpen the tools that already earn their keep.
Handmade in Peyton
Two benches, same roof.
One bench is for steel. Kitchen knives after a long season of tomatoes. The pocket knife that opened too many boxes. The blade you keep reaching for even though it has been coasting. Sharpening, for us, is maintenance with respect: if it is worth keeping, it is worth an edge.
The other bench is the laser. That is where the gifts come from — metal poker card guards with jokes the table will repeat, wooden Halloween lanterns that throw a real shadow, slate, leather, and the occasional gag that still looks like someone made it on purpose.
We are a family workshop, not a factory with a rustic logo. Pieces go out in small batches. Custom work is welcome when we can do it well. If we cannot, we will say so.
Why both?
Sharpening and engraving scratch the same itch: take a material seriously, leave it better than you found it, and send it back into someone’s actual life. A sharp chef’s knife on a weeknight. A card guard on a Friday game. A lantern on the porch in October.
Ready-made gifts live on Etsy. Sharpening starts with the inquiry form. Custom engraving is a message to the shop. Either way, you are talking to the people who will do the work.
